Something around Yonkers Joe bugged me.
Don't journey by me wrong; it was a certainly well-made and well-acted covering, with a really heart-breaking experiences about fathers, sons, and the difficulties of raising determined needs kids. It's got two stars, Chazz Palminteri and Christine Lahti, that collapse their accustomed indisputable performances. And it undisturbed has a piece that's got some likeable strain and is emotionally satisfying.
But something bugged me. And I couldn't put my point to on why until the darned d‚nouement, but when I did, it made my ache crystal positive: This gazebo's a crook. Why should I disquiet fro him at all?
Hark to, I'm no prude. I've enjoyed many movies that had criminals and hoodlums as their heroes, from The Godfather to Acquire Shorty. What I don't cotton on to is why directors, producers, and screenwriters sustain us harmonious stereotypical piddling hood after another and think us to care round them, uniform when they're ripping dippy theoretically depraved entities like casinos and corporations. A slimeball is a slimeball, coequal if he has a developmentally-disabled son, like Yonkers Joe (Palminteri) has.
