Outrage has simmered and stewed at the sinful gut of Colin Firth – arguably the most charming fetter in British cinema – in a role that requires him to shuffle around looking like an unmade bed with loads of fag butts and half-eaten sandwiches in it. In addition the typecasting of Kristin Scott Thomas as a fragile posho, when the current I’ve Loved You So Extensive demonstrated exactly how exceptional and protean she can be.
The pairing of Ben Barnes and Jessica Biel as a puerile aristocrat and his racy American partner is identical of the most stultifyingly boring things I possess in any case seen in the cinema. But worst of all is the incessant, unbearably smug soundtrack that drills its way into your knowledge like a parasite.
