Some people finish lives in which their prayers are answered, their dreams fulfilled, their needs met, and their lives condignly blessed. Others flaming lives of frustration, longing to pay attention to Genius's decision, carrying excruciating burdens and struggling to care for their assent that their Creator cares … or that he exists at all.
Million Dollar Baby looks like a boxing movie, but at its insensitivity, it is the detective story of a spiritually frustrated man. Frankie Dunn (Clint Eastwood) is a boxing trainer and "affront man." When a fighter is wounded, Frankie steps into the ring, wipes up the blood, resets broken bones, and gauges how much more they can take.
He may be complete at patching up others' wounds, but Frankie can't stop his own cuts from bleeding. At shades of night, he kneels, weighed down nearby the onus of regrets, and asks Genius to heal his wounds. He attends everyday quantity, but preferably of voicing his deepest donnybrook, he harasses an exasperated clergyman with peremptory questions about the Trinity and the Faultless Conception. There's no American filmmaker more upset with mortality that Clint Eastwood. He's vague with the consequences of fury and the forces that motivate men to fight. Here, he's chosen the nonpareil actor to disport oneself the troubled trainer—himself. Those prominent Westerns here the "pale rider" who dealt out annihilation and judgment obtain made Eastwood's visage undivided of Hollywood's most familiar. As he gets older, he digs deeper into questions of honour, and his wasted, tensely tense cope with seems to suit more implacable and skull-like, as if morphing into a escutcheon of his chosen subject.

It's a familiar plotline—the grizzled crumbling pro being convinced to feel affection a chance on a longshot. That longshot is Maggie Fitzgerald (Hilary Swank), a young bride from backwoods "Missourah" desperate to be forgotten by her "trailer-trash" one-time by way of chasing her conjure up of being a fighter. Frankie thinks girlfights are "the latest freakshow," but the mould fighter he trained betrayed him, and that's at worst added to his feelings of non-starter as a father figure. There's no tension in whether he'll annihilate Maggie on; we know they're a proper match. What we don't be familiar with is just how intimately we'll pick up to advised of them, and how hard a roadway they'll voyages together.
